Dust and dirt kicked up from Surf Cup’s activities on the fields and the attendant cars, trucks and tractors traversing their frontage roads and parking lots is a continual nuisance and health hazard. For those of us who live directly adjacent to the fields, this dust covers our cars, our homes…

I'd like to remind everyone to come to the January Carmel Valley Planning Board meeting and bring as many interested friends or neighbors as possible. The Surf Cup issue will be on the agenda and we'll be making a presentation. We want to make an impact! This is our opportunity to voice our concerns.

On December 5th, the Deputy Attorney General for the Department of Justice in California sent a letter directing Surf Cup to cease and desist their unpermitted and unlawful redirection of storm water onto the 22nd DAA’s property. This is a major win for all concerned about the effects of their illegal actions on our environment and river valley. THANK YOU to the concerned citizens and neighbors who took photos and reported violations to the appropriate agencies resulting in this action by the CA DOJ. This underscores the importance of the community taking action when violations or other egregious activities occur. If we take action, we can bring about change!

A few weeks ago, we met with Brian Enge, the new CEO of Surf Cup soccer and expressed the concerns the community has in regards to the fields. He told me that Surf Cup would like to try to be a good neighbor. As positive as that sentiment is, Surf Cup made many promises to both the community and the city council in 2016 when their lease was signed…
