Sound levels exceed allowable limits (as measured by nearby residents from inside their homes). Dust and noise pollution from thousands of cars, nonstop referee whistles, and thousands of shouting parents, virtually all day, each day of these tournaments, becomes overwhelming.

The City has said they have put no restrictions on times of use for Surf Cup attendees or staff. The result is activity starting as early as 5:45 AM on some mornings (including Sundays) and going late into the evening, often for many days in a row. Porta-potties are emptied by beeping trucks with industrial vacuums as late as 9:30 or 10:00 at night. Some attendees arrive in motor homes that park and run generators before 7:00 AM on a Sunday, as shown below.
